Synopsis
Evil is a psychological drama and supernatural thriller that follows forensic psychologist Dr Kristen Bouchard, who teams up with priest-in-training David Acosta and technology expert Ben Shakir to investigate alleged miracles, demonic possessions, and other unexplained phenomena. As they explore the line between science and religion, they uncover dark forces, both human and otherwise, that challenge their beliefs and put their sanity at risk.
Reviews
Evil is a finely constructed, thoughtful, potentially addictive procedural about a hot priest-to-be, a gifted psychologist, and a dishwater-fixing hacker who team up to fight demonic Alexas and prove or disprove miracles … the questions are earnest, the answers not readily provided.
RogerEbert.com
“Evil’s pilot episode gives viewers a show whose classically elegant construction and sharp sense of itself augur great things ahead.”
Variety
“It’s to Evil’s advantage that its plots veer between the serious and the seriously goofy. … The series regularly interrogates how people are incentivized to sin … But it also considers how we might expand our notion of spiritual evil to include, say, a priest’s earthly grief cutting him off from God, or the perpetuation of racism in its manifold forms.”
