Synopsis
Fitzgerald Family Christmas is a stirring ensemble drama wrapped in holiday sentiment. The film centers on the Fitzgerald family, whose seven adult children are shaken when their long-absent father – who walked out on them over 20 years ago – expresses a desire to come home for Christmas. As the siblings prepare for his arrival, old wounds and lingering resentments surface. Alliances shift, relationships are tested, and each family member must reckon with forgiveness, accountability, and what it means to be a “family” after years of silence and abandonment.
Reviews
“Anchoring the film as much as his character does his family, Burns displays such an affable screen presence that one is able to overlook the film’s hoarier aspects. The estimable supporting cast does equally fine work, with McMullen veterans McGlone and particularly the ever-alluring Britton making substantial contributions. And once again the filmmaker perfectly evokes the gritty outer-borough, working-class milieu that is literally miles away from Woody Allen’s picture-postcard depictions of an Oz-like Manhattan.”
The Hollywood Reporter
“The gang of usual suspects, from the wonderful Connie Britton to Michael McGlone, is all back in this amiable but uninspired ensemble comedy.”
